The solo exhibition “Urushi— Exploring the Chromacosm—Nhat Tran” was installed in mid-August 2025 (until early April 2026) in the John E. Fisher Gallery at Otterbein University, Westerville, Ohio. It brings together a collection of urushi artworks crafted on a variety of supports, including wood, polystyrene, antlers, animal bones and skulls, ceramic, and plexiglass, in both 2D and 3D forms. The works shown were selected from those created for three different award-winning projects : “Urushi on Plexiglass Experiments” from the Herbert Simon Family Creative Risk Fund Grant, “Into the Bones” from the Christel DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award Grant, and “Innovative Urushi” from the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship (Arts Council of Indianapolis). The exhibition curator, Janice Glowski, has done a masterful job showcasing the artworks and organizing related events. Photographs of the exhibition were produced by Mark Steele. They are shown here to illustrate a genuine model installation of my artworks.
