Points of Light, Points of Might, 2001

The Corcoran Gallery of Art,  Washington, DC

24" x 24"

Oil, acrylic, wax, eggshell on masonite

This is not an urushi painting, but it is shown here because the technique applied in its creation sought to imitate urushi effects.

This painting traveled in the United States and several other countries between 2002 and 2006, as part of True Colors: Meditations on the American Spirit, an exhibition touring nationally and internationally under the aegis of the Meridian International Center in Washington, DC. An artistic response to the tragedy of September eleven, that exhibition offered a meditation on some of the qualities that made our nation able to respond to that event.

“Disasters enkindle our candles; we bring them to our windowsill for all to see.
True might enlightens, true light empowers.”
